Continued wip with the mob guy

I'm trying the painterly look in Photoshop now, instead of Painter. What you guys think of this style? Do you think this is a good direction? Is it THAT different then how my other stuff looks? Too smooth and modeled looking? That's the one thing I don't always like about my stuff and I'm attempting to get away from it.

I'm trying to just lay in brushstrokes with color, although I'm not quite succeeding at it yet. I'm noticing to just lay in color straight away takes a lot confidence in each stroke.

This is a drawing I did yesterday. I'm trying to figure out a method of working in Painter. This is as far as I can get so far. Painter's tough.
